About Attack Earth.

The inspiration for this book came from several sources. 4 of them in fact:

First of my 4 muses is the classic EC comic books of the 50's. The covers on these books always blew me away. I thought they were incredible. These comics told some very cool stories that I finally got to read when I was 45. They were one of the things that made me think about making Attack Earth.

The Mars Attacks bubble gum cards. Released 3 months before I was born and then banned I loved these cards. As a kid one would fall into my hands from time to time and I loved these things. A lot of the book draws from these classic cards. I loved the scenes of destruction as a kid. I was not the only one. Tons of Hollywood movies like "Independence Day" and so on follow this premise.

"I Shall Destroy All Civilized Planets" by Fletcher Hanks. An obscure book about an even MORE obscure 1950's comic book artist Fletcher Hanks. What is wild about these comics is the earth is blown apart in many of the stories then the hero goes and tracks down the bad guys and tortures them for several pages before killing them. It's never about preventing disaster but punishing the bad guys. I love this silly idea. So I included that theme in "Attack Earth". This book is available on Amazon is a wierd read.

Basil Wolverton's "Space Ghost". Another weird old comic there is nothing quite like Basil Wolverton's work. Always filled with weird creatures and classic 1950's looking space crafts and cool artwork I again discovered him late in life, in my 40's, and love this guys work..

Attack Earth is a homage to the fine days when blowing up the earth and kicking the stuffing out of the bad guys was all in a good days work.
